ADRiMP Achievements

  • August 2018 saw us launch the Association with His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest at the BMICH on 23rd August.
  • January 2019 – Conducted a half-day session on Localization of Sendai SFDRR indicators in Sri Lanka on 17th January 2019 as part of the International Ascent Festival for Capacity building for research and innovation in Disaster resilience organized by University of Huddersfield, U.K.
  • University of Moratuwa and University of Colombo and partners,14-18th January at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo.
  • June 2019 – In collaboration with the Climate Change Secretariat and with the support of World Vision Lanka, conducted Awareness on Climate Change, Impacts, and Climate Change Adaptation to mark the World Environment Day 2019 on 18th June.
  • July 2019 – A web portal was hosted for the Association which is currently being updated www.adrimp.org.lk.
  • Thereafter, it had been an uphill task with limited financial resources and without full-time personnel to attend to demanding tasks of a newborn.
  • Interim Committee members provided inputs as and when time allowed them, and we are happy that ADRiMP has been able to achieve several important milestones. We thank all members who have supported these initiatives. Unfortunately, the visibility of this work has remained low due to the lack of media exposure and regular communication with the membership.
  • July 2019 – Led a session at the International Impact Conference on Governance of the upstream – Downstream interface in end – to end Tsunami early a warning system, 11-13 July 2019, organized by the University of Huddersfield and University of Moratuwa at the University of Moratuwa.
  • December 2019 – Dialogue on Convergence of the 2030 agendas for DRR and CCA – Why is it important? And How can we achieve it? On 3rd December in partnership with the University of Huddersfield and Disaster Management Center at the DMC Auditorium.
  • Workshop on Research Paper Writing for young professionals on 10th December with the support of the University of Huddersfield and DMC at the DMC Auditorium.
